Welcome To The Machine
EarthDial Project

This project is related to and celebrates the Mars Rover project. The  EarthDial Project is
a partnership between The Planetary Society (the worlds largest space interest group),
Bill Nye (the Science Guy and Nye Labs) and Professor Woody Sullivan at the University
of Washington.

I decided to take part in the project as I have grown up with a love of  machines and
mechanical things, they have enabled us to remove much of the fear that past
generations had and to increase our life spans and quality of life.   Machines can also
become things of beauty, almost art, in themselves, becoming living statues when in
action with their rhythmic poetry.  The sundial is such a case,  elegance and simplicity,
combined with slow graceful cyclical movement. I became fascinated years ago but was
'too busy' to get involved.  Why are we always 'too busy'.  This project got me active at last.
 Thanks you Woody.

The Mars Rovers have many instruments built onto them and one of these can be used
as a sundial on Mars -see if you can find i
t when you visit mars page- the motto of the
project is '
Two Worlds One Sun' and this will be seen on all dials. Also to be seen will
be the locations - '
Mars 2004' and 'Earth 2004'.

The EarthDial project includes dials from all over the world which can be viewed from a
single site
here.
Project Stag
The Triumph Stag was built in the early 1970's by the Triumph
Motor Company of Coventry England. It was (and some still are) a
Grand Tourer in the best sense of the  word.

It is a 2+2 Drophead with a sports style body of quite  beautiful
proportion and shape in the classic English style.  Powered by a
throaty 3 litre engine it also has a good  performance and an
unforgettable growl.

I am in the process of refurbishing two of these beautiful  cars and
hope to preserve them for future generations to enjoy.
These pages are constantly evolving and if you like them please visit again to see the developments. I may add
pages about my railway modelling and my scratch built models in the future.

Featured on this site ar the moment are my Triumph Stag and EarthDial Projects.  You can visit either by clicking
